Jared Isaacman Renominated for NASA Administrator

President Trump has formally renominated entrepreneur and philanthropist Jared Isaacman to serve as administrator of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration. This is following the nomination earlier this year that was then suddenly pulled by President Trump shortly before the Senate committee vote to confirm Mr. Isaacman.
Under Senate rules the nomination must again follow the full procedure. The Senate Commerce Committee will once again conduct background checks and have a Senate Confirmation Hearing. The committee hearing will give the Senate the chance to ask Jared questions regarding changes to NASA and the space community since his original nomination. More intense questions regarding Artemis and the Human Landing Systems selected for Artemis are expected following the reopening of contracts initiated by acting NASA Administrator Sean Duffy.
Jared Isaacman has flown to space twice on SpaceX’s dragon capsule. The first mission, Inspiration 4, was the first all civilian orbital spaceflight. Isaacman then conducted the first ever civilian spacewalk on the Polaris Dawn Mission. Despite his connections to SpaceX through his missions, Jared has often expressed his interest and willingness to embrace all of commercial space operators.
- Following publication of this article Jared Isaacman had his nomination hearing on December 3rd, 2025.
